The Oribirds

6 days ago, I estimated that this particular painting will finish in 2 or 3 days. Well, it’s just finished today. What took me so long?
Well, indecisiveness is part of my DNA. The birds themselves was done as of Monday. So in a way, I did kept my words, but I was still not satisfied. It needed something extra but for the the life of me, I didn’t know what was missing. So I added the safety pins – Not Enough!
And so the birds sat one whole day waiting for me (while I Netflix marathoned Money Heist season 4 – so f**king good!!) to decide what fancy stuff I should give them to enjoy coz they look like they’re having a very pleasant time together. Since I created them, I feel obliged that I should give them something to enjoy – so they don’t look crazy smiling at … nothing.

Bubbles were the answer. When you have nothing to show, give them some bubbles. Bubbles are fun, it transcend all ages and gender. It is timeless, you can’t go wrong with bubbles. It brings happiness and joy. It has created some of the best memories for me, and I am sure for a lot of other people too. It brings kids together. One of the guaranteed times for you to hear children’s laughter. It comes in all shapes and sizes.

Yeah that took me a while to come up with. I wanted something soft, subtle, simple, not loud to steal their grand spotlight, but relevant and not cliché in any way. It’s easy way way out to just paint a heart or some music notes, or a feather… or graffiti king and queen crowns.. I’ve contemplated with them all. It didn’t pass my test. Although the crowns came in second. It was the top choice for the mural side of me. But I didn’t want to separate them into any gender at the same time.. at least not on the original canvas, but I might add the crowns as a separate artwork if I ever decide to turn them into prints.
