Good Old Pins

Day 7 into daily paintings and I am already pushing my own boundaries to bring something as “boring” as clothes pins to look a little more “life-y” than it would in real life. This was definitely a lot harder than I give credit for.

Lots of colours and composition was tricky to nail down as I did not make a preliminary sketch beforehand. Also I decided to introduce the palette knife towards the end to create textures for much needed visual impact.

Doing alla prima involves solving problems.. loads of them. If you would like to give any of these photo references (found in my instagram) a try in alla prima style, feel free to do so! Just remember to give credits.
