1 Percent Better Than Yesterday

Attempted another cloud painting this morning. I approached it in a more systematic way compared to yesterday. It was still unpredictable in a lot of ways.. my background colour kept bleeding into the light edges, not in a good way. Which make me think maybe I will have to paint in the lighter colour first.

All in all, it was still a good short painting session. It has made me a lot more curious. Certain times, I find myself demotivated, but I know it is just temporary and I should know that with each attempt, I will only get better- better in a way where I get to learn and discover something new, and that is a good thing.

Nothing humbles you more when you are learning something completely new. I may have been painting for 10 years now, but I never gave a true study in alla prima, which I really admire and also a total opposite of my usual detailed approach.

9 hours in and I have a long way to go. A pleasant journey so far with the usual bumps. I don’t think I would be able to execute today’s painting on my first day, and that is my take away.
